Certainly in rural Vermont, but the WORK is extraordinary. Be prepared not to have cell service/housing to be a bit on the rustic side, but the community support and talented staff make it extremely worth it.

CRT is a Wonderful place to work! Storrs, CT is a beautiful college town. The theater staff was professional and accommodating to my individual needs. The apartment is centrally located in close walking distance to the theater, gym, campus, grocery and dining. I rarely used my car except to take rides through the beautiful countryside. I highly recommend this working experience to any professional actor.

I had an incredible time at CRT! My wife and I had a baby one week before I was set to work at CRT and they were more than accommodating. The housing was lovely and the staff made our stay warm and welcoming. The fall New England foliage didn't hurt either. I would go back in a heartbeat.

CRT is one of the best regional theaters that I've had the pleasure of working at! I love working with the staff, and the communication between departments is great. The AEA housing is some of the best that I've ever stayed in. I love working with the design and production teams! They do in fact provide a gym membership for AEA members. I would definitely return!

CRT is a great regional Theatre. Located in lively Storrs, CT the rural atmosphere and small community makes for a great place to focus on your process. The managing company is top notch and the facilities are great. Great team, great energy and as professional as you can get. Highly recommend if the opportunity is presented.

I LOVED working at CRT. I would go back to do a show there in a heartbeat. The entire staff is wonderful and you get to stay on the gorgeous UCONN campus in the middle of beautiful CT. Close to fun nature spots like Diana's Pool etc.... Great fun for days off.

Arguably the most magical place to perform. It's outside in a beautiful park with a 3,000 seat amphitheater. Located in Albany NY, the locals see Park Playhouse as a major event and it shows with the nightly turnout. Rehearsals are at a professional studio space in downtown and the housing is better than my apartment. Lastly the talent is incredible. Have had a blast working here.

I'm having the most wonderful time working there right now! We have 3 weeks of rehearsal with plenty of time to work organically and spend time on research and table work. The whole staff is amazing and accommodating. Plus, it feels thrilling to perform outside in front of thousands of people each night :)

2-3 AEA contracts per show based on the show. Quality productions for a largely community atmosphere. Foster type housing as needed for AEA only. The facility was upgraded in 2009 with a fly house and a new backstage area. I haven't been in it since the upgrade, but have heard wonderful things about this facility. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend a summer season here.

  • What aldonza recently posted about Fulton Theatre:

The info in the top left corner is incorrect. The Fulton operates on a LORT contract, in both the mainstage (~700 seats) and the Studio Theatre (flexible, 100+ seats). They also use a TYA contract for the Family Series shows, that run in tandem with several MainStage musicals each season. Contracts vary from 6-9 weeks, depending on the slot in the season. (Holiday and summer musicals tend to be longer gigs.) ...and how many theaters are across the street from awesome farmers' markets?!?! You can literally get anything on a 10-minute break, and get back to rehearsal without missing a beat.

No company cars, as most cast is from So Cal. Housing is on a show-by-show basis. I was in a small cast (6) so we all had our own rooms at the Holiday Inn Express, a short drive from the theater & rehearsal studio (5-10 mins). Pool, gym, wifi, mini fridge, microwave, full breakfast buffet each morning, coffee & cookies in the lobby in the afternoon. The cast before us was quite big and shared rooms at the holiday inn. Other casts have been housed at the resort itself. There is a free all you can eat buffet at the resort. We all had to let our costumes out during tech. Wonderful musicians, crew, and company. Elderly, appreciative audiences who sometimes shout at the stage, have heart attacks, or take naps. The breakfast room doubled as a rehearsal space when we wanted to run choreography between rehearsals.

  • What LucyEth's recently posted about Forestburgh Playhouse:

2 meals/day are provided at the theater. Vegetarian option is usually hummus or a frozen (non-vegan) veggie patty. There's always salad. The AEA actor housing is (or at least was in '09) a nice, old 3-story house full of cast & creatives. Shared bathrooms. One has a whirlpool tub. The one fridge doesn't really allow much personal grocery storage, since there are so many people. But there is plenty of dry/canned goods storage. Washer/Dryer downstairs. Deer & harmless snakes in the back yard. Theater is a whimsical barn. Non-eq cast has many duties outside of the shows.
